Vangent and HumanArc Win Business with 13 Medicare Part D Plans
High-touch, high-tech service helps Medicare beneficiaries avoid loss of low income subsidy to pay for prescription medications
Arlington, VA,
October 24, 2007 - Vangent, Inc., a leading provider of healthcare technology services, and Human Arc (Cleveland, OH), a leading expert in governmental healthcare programs and member eligibility, today announced 13 prominent Medicare Part D plan sponsors retained their services to redeem members who recently received letters from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) stating that they will lose their low income subsidies (LIS) for 2008 unless they re-apply for the benefit.
In its September 6, 2007 memo, CMS indicated that it expects plan sponsors to reach out to their members who are losing their LIS deemed status and provide assistance to members with completing the LIS application. The LIS is a government assistance program available to Medicare beneficiaries with income below specified limits. This year, approximately 500,000 Medicare beneficiaries did not automatically retain the benefit and must reapply.
Vangent’s comprehensive informis™ member interaction management solution will provide contact management to complement Human Arc’s proven Part D SolutionsSM LIS outreach, member screening and enrollment assistance expertise. Together, Vangent and Human Arc will:
- Contact and qualify undeemed members in an expeditious manner
- Ensure the LIS application is completed correctly and submitted in its entirety
- Electronically submit the application directly to the Social Security Administration for processing
The informis™ approach provides the basis for a continuing member management and retention program which will ensure that Plans protect their “membership” investment and enhance the member experience.
“Not only does this service help those beneficiaries in need, it is also an important service for loyalty and retention,” said Mac Curtis, President and CEO, Vangent, Inc. “By reaching out to assist their un-deemed members, health plans are demonstrating how much they value their members and are providing an outstanding customer experience—a leading differentiator in a competitive market.”
“Human Arc’s expertise is in understanding these special populations, informing them in a caring and respectful way, and then helping them preserve their healthcare benefits,” said Jeffrey L. Markle, Human Arc President and Chief Operating Officer. “The outcome is a better informed, better protected plan member.”
