PEARSON GOVERNMENT SOLUTIONS AWARDED CONTRACT BY UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA
Streamlined Admissions and Scholarship Application System
Will Save University $2.8 Million
ARLINGTON, VA,
September
1, 2005 - Pearson Government Solutions announced that the University of
California selected Pearson Government Solutions to perform a wide range
of services to support the Centralized Admissions and Scholarships
Application (CASA) system.
Under the contract, Pearson Government Solutions will design, build, and
operate a centrally managed system to process undergraduate admission
applications for admission and scholarships for the University of
California's nine general undergraduate campuses. Pearson will provide
services that include, but are not limited to, web software applications,
database management, systems development, project management, data entry,
printing, mailing, data analysis, receipt and processing of undergraduate
admission application fee payments, and call center/inquiry services.
While the University stands to save upwards of $2.8 million dollars per
year in the long run with this technology, students will also benefit from
the centralized admissions services.
"Streamlining the admissions decision making process will prove beneficial
to both students applying to UC and admissions officers," said Susan
Wilbur, University of California Director of Undergraduate Admissions.
"The advanced technology will allow applicants to update and check the
status of their applications, as well as save time and undue effort for
admissions officers by eliminating unwieldy paper files."
Over 103,000 students apply to one or more University of California
campuses each year, with approximately 95% of the applicants using the Web
to submit their applications.
"We are pleased to provide our technology and services to assist students
at a critical decision point in their lives," said Mary Westbrook, Senior
Vice President and General Manager of Pearson Government Solutions
Civilian Agencies Services Division. "Pearson's experience in providing
Web-based application processing services and our deep commitment to our
customers, students, and their families will serve to extend our valued
partnership with the University of California for many years to come."
Pearson Government Solutions has worked with the University of California
since 2000 providing services for the University's
Eligibility-in-the-Local Context (ELC) program and more recently for the
Analytical Writing Placement Examination. Over the past 5 years, Pearson
has become a trusted partner to the University by providing timely and
cost-effective services in an often-dynamic environment.
