RIVERA NAMED VICE PRESIDENT OF COMMUNICATIONS AT PEARSON GOVERNMENT SOLUTIONS

ARLINGTON, VA, July 25, 2005 - Pearson Government Solutions announced the appointment of Eileen Cassidy Rivera as Vice President of Communications, reporting to President and CEO Mac Curtis. In this new position, Rivera will manage the company's strategic communications and marketing activities and promote the company's award-winning services and solutions.

"Eileen's communications, public affairs and media relations experience in the U.S. and internationally will be key to Pearson's success as a premier business solutions company," said Curtis. "Her proven track record in government and the private sector will serve PGS well as we build upon our 50 year heritage helping our U.S. government, international governments, higher education, and human resource management clients. We are very pleased to have Eileen join our team."

Rivera joins Pearson Government Solutions after four and a half years at Electronic Data Systems (EDS) where she managed communications and operations. Prior to her tenure at EDS, Rivera served in the Clinton Administration as Director of Press and Public Affairs at the Peace Corps, Assistant Administrator for International Trade at the U.S. Small Business Administration and Special Assistant to the late Commerce Secretary Ron Brown. She also was the Director of Corporate Relations at the International Youth Foundation in Baltimore, Maryland, an organization dedicated to the positive development of children and youth throughout the world.

In 2002, Rivera was appointed by Governor Mark Warner to serve on the Virginia Business-Education Partnership, an advisory board which promotes partnerships between schools, parents and businesses to increase student learning and academic achievement.

"I am excited to join Pearson and its team of talented leaders," said Rivera. "I look forward to using my wide range of experiences to further develop Pearson's excellent reputation as a company that knows how to develop relationships and deliver results."

Rivera began her communications career at Hill & Knowlton where she specialized in international public affairs.
