VANGENT, INC. CONTINUES SPONSORSHIP OF NATIONAL DISABLED VETERANS WINTER SPORTS CLINIC
Company Increases Its Support to “National” Level in Third Straight Year of Sponsorship, Demonstrating Ongoing Commitment to Disabled Veterans
Arlington, VA,
June 5, 2007 - For the third straight year, Vangent, Inc., a leading global provider of information management and business process outsourcing solutions, was a sponsor of the National Disabled Veterans Winter Sports Clinic in Snowmass Village, Colorado. This year, in conjunction with unveiling the company’s new name, Vangent increased its sponsorship to the “National” level. Vangent was also pleased to donate lip balm—a much-desired commodity at 9,000 feet elevation in the Colorado Rockies during the first week of April—to each of the nearly 500 participants.
The activities at the clinic are designed to push disabled veterans to new heights and enhance their rehabilitation. Participants learn Alpine and Nordic skiing and try their skills at rock climbing, scuba diving, trapshooting, snowmobiling, sled hockey, wheelchair fencing, curling and many other activities. Sponsorship of the event subsidizes the majority of the costs for the veterans, and sponsors also serve as volunteers during the event. Vangent representatives supported sled hockey, skiing, scuba, rock climbing, shooting and snowmobiling.
Veterans Affairs Secretary Jim Nicholson said the clinic helps show how participants with spinal cord injuries, visual impairments or other severe disabilities can still live full, productive lives. The Department of Veterans Affairs and the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) have cosponsored the program, the largest annual rehabilitation event of its kind in the world, since 1987. About 100
of the participants at the 21st annual event were seriously wounded in Iraq or Afghanistan.
Vangent’s ongoing sponsorship and participation demonstrates its continuing commitment to the service men and women of the Armed Forces, veterans and their family members. The company also has a longstanding commitment to providing meaningful work opportunities for persons with disabilities and disabled veterans.
Jonathan Jahp and Dan Regan, Vangent Health Solutions Vice Presidents, and Anthony Case, Vangent’s Program Manager for the Veterans Affairs Contact Management pilot program, were on hand to receive Vangent’s National Sponsorship recognition from the DAV and Veterans Affairs at a sponsors’ reception. Additional Vangent attendees included David Meyer, Health Solutions Vice President, and strategic consultant Pat O’Neil.
