April 27, 2010Vangent Qualified to Provide IT Services to Pennsylvania State System of Higher EducationVangent Eligible to Provide IT Consulting Services to the 14 PASSHE UniversitiesARLINGTON, VA, April 27, 2010 - Vangent, Inc., a leading global provider of information management and strategic business process solutions, announced today that it was awarded a contract to potentially provide IT consulting and support services to the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE). The multiple-award, time and materials contract has a one-year base period with an optional five-year total period of performance. "It is important that universities get the most value out of their IT infrastructures, and Vangent is looking forward to a strong partnership with PASSHE that will deliver critical services that will not only increase efficiencies, but also reduce operating costs," said Craig Janus, Senior Vice President for Vangent. "Vangent understands the complex education environment and will leverage its extensive technology strategy, design and implementation experience to support the system's universities and its respective students and families." PASSHE is the largest higher education provider in Pennsylvania, encompassing fourteen universities and more than 117,000 students. Under the PASSHE contract, schools can now submit task orders to procure Vangent's services in application development, information technology audit and assessment, and project management. PASSHE schools can also receive value-added services that include placement assistance, user training, process consulting, outsourcing and hosting. Vangent has more than 30 years of extensive experience working with educators and education service providers. Vangent implemented a centrally-managed system at the University of California to process undergraduate admission and scholarship applications that has saved the education system more than $2.8 million. Additionally, Vangent has been working with the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Federal Student Aid (FSA) for more than 25 years and recently helped create a simpler "FAFSA on the Web" system for financial aid applicants that improves the usability and accuracy of the Web site. Vangent is supported by subcontractor Disaster, Planning & Recovery, LLC, a woman- and minority-owned document management company, which offers secure destruction of computers and electronic equipment.
