Vangent to Hire Approximately 3,000 Temporary Employees at Paper Data Capture Center in Phoenix, AZ to Support 2010 U.S. Census

PHOENIX, AZ, October  7, 2009 – Vangent, Inc., a leading global provider of information management and strategic business process outsourcing solutions, today announced that, as a subcontractor partner to Lockheed Martin, it is hiring approximately 3,000 temporary employees in Phoenix, AZ to support operations for the U.S. 2010 Census. The employees working at the Paper Data Capture Center (PDCC) will process 40 percent of the country’s 2010 Census forms. The facility located at 4427 West Buckeye, Phoenix, AZ, is convenient to the freeway and accessible to public transportation. People are encouraged to apply at www.Vangent.com. Positions include: data entry keyers, team leaders, document preparation clerks, sorter and scanner operators, check in clerks, mail receipt/mail handlers. 


The facility is one of three Paper Data Capture Centers nationwide that will assist in the data capture for the 2010 Census.


In January 2010, Vangent plans to hire approximately 3,000 temporary production staff at the Phoenix site comprised of both full- and part-time employees. The vast majority of jobs will end with the conclusion of the U.S. Census in July 2010. Prospective employees can submit their applications in mid October at www.Vangent.com. Ideal candidates include full- or part-time job seekers, retirees, college students, unemployed persons, ambulatory-challenged persons. To be eligible for employment, potential candidates must:

  • Pass a criminal background check that includes fingerprinting
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Be legally able to work in the United States (Two-year residency)
  • Sign a sworn statement to protect Census data

In addition to the Phoenix, AZ, site, Vangent is operating call centers in Lawrence, KS, Sandy, UT and Phoenix, AZ supporting the 2010 Census.  These call centers serve as an information resource and hotline for respondents who have questions about how to complete the 2010 Census form and general questions about the U.S. Census. Other work performed at this location includes outbound calls to gather information for incomplete forms or to verify data.
