Vangent to Provide Hiring Optimization Solution to Support the 2010 Census

Recruiting automation and selection system key to hiring up to 30,000 Decennial Response Integration System (DRIS) employees

Chicago, IL July 20, 2009 - Vangent, Inc., a leading provider of results-oriented human capital and talent management solutions, announced that it will provide a critical talent acquisition component to support the large-scale personnel requirements of the upcoming 2010 Census, under prime contractor Lockheed Martin. The Software as a Service (SaaS) solution is designed to improve the applicant experience, automate time-consuming paper-based processes, reduce time-to-hire, and improve quality-of-hire.

The Vangent Talent Acquisition System (V-TAS) will be used to provide online job application and hiring process workflows for selected Paper Data Capture Centers and Call Centers. Vangent's pre-employment screening assessments will be utilized to improve the quality and integrity of hire by evaluating job applicant aptitudes, attitudes, skills, and behaviors. In addition, Vangent's Electronic Suitability Assessment (ESA) solution combines the power of V-TAS with Vangent's Multi-Biometric Enrollment Solution (MBES™) to provide point-of-presence data capture for digital fingerprints, photographs, and security screening documents and the management of personnel security screening workflows among multiple employers and government stakeholders.

Processing job applicants in a timely and efficient manner while maximizing the quality and security of the program is a critical success factor for census operations. The ESA solution allows the Adjudicating Office within the Commerce Department to handle the rigorous requirements of a short-term, carefully screened, mass hire situation without having to incur a large increase of its own internal staff. The new process will greatly reduce the reliance of labor-intensive, paper-based hiring processes cutting throughput times from weeks to days, while enhancing the screening of census operations personnel.

"Identifying, screening, and onboarding high quality talent in a time and cost efficient manner will have a direct and measurable impact on the execution of Census Bureau goals," stated Mac Curtis, President and CEO of Vangent. "We're proud to be contributing such innovation and integrity to a critical national initiative."
