Vangent Vice President and Chief Scientist, Dr. John Jones, Honored for Professional Contributions and Service to Testing

Chicago, IL, June 9, 2009 – Vangent, Inc., a leading provider of results-oriented human capital and talent management solutions, announced that the Association of Test Publishers (ATP) has awarded Dr. John Jones, the 2009 Professional Contributions and Service to Testing Award at their annual “Innovations in Testing Conference.” Dr. Jones was acknowledged for his valuable contributions to the test publishing industry over the last three decades.

The ATP is the premier international trade association focused on the development and promotion of testing and assessment best practices and the achievement of the highest standards of industry professionalism.  Dr. Jones was instrumental in the founding of ATP in 1992.

Dr. Jones played a lead role in advancing the integrity testing industry in the late 1980s and early 1990s when certain states sought to minimize the use of valid and reliable pre-employment assessments that made valuable contributions to an organization’s bottom-line.  He not only provided state and federal level advocacy support, but also the thought leadership of advanced applied research to help ensure the on-going viability of this important area of practice. 

Dr. Jones has chaired the Industrial / Organizational Division of the ATP, as well as the ATP’s Testing Standards Committee where he oversaw the publication of the “Model Guidelines for Pre-employment Integrity Testing.” Dr. Jones remains active in the association, and routinely makes conference presentations on such topics as web-enabled pre-employment testing, ensuring legal and professional compliance with employment assessments, and screening protective services personnel for job-relevant integrity.
