Vangent builds intelligent degree planning systems for clients with unique personnel and mission requirements like those in the U.S. military. We understand the challenges faced by those earning undergraduate and graduate degrees while serving in the military; time, mission-requirements, and geographic issues represent just a few of the challenges. To overcome these hurdles, we deliver comprehensive degree planning and counseling services for military personnel. Our history of support to the military helps our staff to analyze military personnel's non-traditional educational credits (including military, corporate, testing, certification, and licensures) for inclusion in the degree program of choice. Based on recommendations from the American Council on Education (ACE), we use that credit and additional earned credit to build customized degree planning packages. Accelerating degree completion, saving time and enhancing the participant's education experience, these are the hallmarks of a Vangent degree planning program.
Vangent Mini-Case Study
Army National Guard - Education Support Center (ARNG ESC)
The ARNG ESC serves to centralize educational support activity throughout all 50 U.S. states and four U.S. territories for military personnel. All 340,000 service members of the ARNG, their spouses, and Federal employees can access direct support to aid in accomplishing academic goals. The ESC, in coordination with 53 colleges and universities, offers 2,000 undergraduate and graduate degrees.
In 2002, Vangent (formerly Pearson Analytic Solutions) established the ESC at the Professional Education Center (PEC) at Camp Robinson, Arkansas. Today, our on-site team delivers 4,000 military credit assessments and 12,000 degree plans each year.
The degree planning package consists of an evaluation and three degree plans. ESC counselors are available to help military personnel select plans and guide them through the enrollment process. Counselors are familiar with all 21 Army National Guard education benefit programs, including Federal tuition assistance and the G.I. Bill. The ESC staff conducts education briefs and training sessions for approximately 10,000 military personnel a year who are attending classes at PEC.
Through our efforts, the program has fostered strong relationships throughout the military education community-relationships that provide us and our customer with valuable insight in educating a professional military workforce.
