Vangent provides a wide range of clearinghouse solutions in support of the worldwide telecommunications industry and other clients. We are responsible for the full integration of neutral third-party services between competitive telecommunications carriers while operating both data and contact centers, and we remain the first neutral service provider in Latin America.
Many of our clearinghouse clients needed to create, manage, and maintain a long distance service database. After long distance service is opened to competition, citizens are required to pre-subscribe for the long distance company they wish to use. Vangent maintains a database to process and maintain these pre-subscription requests.
Vangent creates, manages, and maintains databases of long distance service requests. After receiving requests, we verify that the requests are valid and then forward the valid requests to the appropriate service provider. We then follow up to ensure that requests are activated by the appropriate service provider. We also operate contact centers to both verify requests and provide technical and user support to the telecom carriers.
Vangent also built and administers the online Mobile Identification Number (MIN) Block Identifier (MBI) system for the wireless MBI Users. The MBI system provides wireless MBI users the ability to request and pay MBI accounts online. In addition, we provide MBI database access, reporting, and MBI information from the MBI administrator and MBI Oversight Council (MOC). Vangent also provides a help desk that handles both technical and user help.
Deregulation of the telecommunications market in the UK has resulted in hundreds of competing Communication Providers (CPs) and the need for processes and systems for these CPs to switch customers. Vangent provides the infrastructure and services to support CPs in provisioning new and managing in-life voice and data product customers. Vangent’s Carrier Pre-Selection (CPS) and Wholesale Line Rental (WLR) portals provide the electronic data interface between a CP’s own back-end systems and British Telecom’s (BT’s) order gateways. Vangent also offers a suite of managed services which includes order management, line fault management, and customer interaction management, enabling Vangent to offer a cost-effective one-stop service.
From January 2007, BT Openreach (a new division of BT) has launched a replacement WLR gateway which is designed to enable CPs to compete on a level playing field utilizing the Openreach Equivalence Management Platform (EMP or WLR3). From 2009 all CPs including BT Retail (who have to commence in first quarter 2007) will be required to use this technology to raise new WLR orders or manage line faults. The EMP will create a new paradigm in the Wholesale Line Rental market, completely different from the current WLR2 and eCo fault management products. Vangent is engaged with BT Openreach in the trial of WLR3 with the fault management (Assurance) element now complete and signed off by BT. The fulfillment piece is scheduled to be available in June 2007.
